Join our Team of Incredible OSCR Volunteers!
As a volunteer, you will help others, meet new people, face new challenges and contribute to the quality of life here at OSCR. Volunteers are the cornerstone of our ability to offer a wide variety of programs and activities.
You can volunteer in many ways:
Friendly Visitor - A friendly visitor will make personal visits to clients, providing supportive social connection. Friendly visits may take place in the building, outdoors or in the community.
Friendly Escort - A friendly escort volunteer accompanies a senior to an appointment in the community. Friendly escorts should be patient, reassuring and have excellent communication skills.
Program Assistant - Volunteers are able to assist the Healthy Living Program Department in linking clients to programs. This may include telephone reminders; assist with organizing programs and serving refreshments.
Co-op Opportunities - This entails high school and college students who volunteer their time to earn community hours in order to graduate. The minimum age required of co-op students is 16 years.
In addition to these volunteer opportunities, the Healthy Living Programs Department organizes social events, for example, band shells, ice-cream socials, games and parties, and seasonal events like BBQs and Christmas functions. In all these areas volunteers can play an active role.
What is Required to Volunteer?
- All volunteers must provide a vulnerable sector criminal police check
