Comfort and Care
When caregivers need time away, we can assist. Eligible individuals for OSCR's ShortStay must be 18 years of age or older and are welcome to stay with us for up to three (3) stays per year, with each "caregiver relief" stay lasting two (2) to fourteen (14) nights. Daily rates apply.
During a ShortStay at OSCR, individuals have full access to all of OSCR’s programs, activities and entertainment. All personal care, exercise plan and medication management needs will be carefully planned by our dedicated Coordinators.
OSCR’s ShortStay Rooms are located on the main floor of the Residential Tower and have a Client Services staff member dedicated to these rooms on every shift, 24/7.
These rooms provide an electric adjustable single bed with a custom mattress designed to prevent bed sores, a safe for personal belongings, a bar-sized fridge for special snacks that our client may wish to bring with them, a closet with a lockable sliding door, and a private ensuite bathroom with safety features. Each client has access to our Jacuzzi-style accessible tub (which is pace-maker friendly) and walk-in shower facility, with staff assistance.
Three (3) nutritious meals and an evening snack are provided daily in either the Dining Room or in the Short Stay room if this is preferred.
OSCR’s Short Stay program is available for caregivers whose loved ones are medically stable, 18 years of age or older and are currently living in the community. Applicants to the program must be deemed eligible through a respite advisor at the Caregiver Respite Program.
Lock down units are not available at OSCR.
